“Kapag nalibing si Marcos sa Libingan ng mga Bayani, walang saysay ang kasaysayan,” Human rights lawyer and activist Neri Colmenares said in a forum last Sept. 19.

Colmenares argued that the Philippine’s public policy is against the planned hero’s burial for the late president Ferdinand Marcos.

“Ang Korte Suprema, ang Kongreso, at ang Executive branch have [declared] public policy na si Marcos [ay una:] diktador, pangalawa: corrupt [at] pangatlo: human rights violator,” he said.

The former Bayan Muna party-list representative exposed the atrocities committed during Marcos’ presidency.

He said the “Golden Era” Marcos supporters’ belief does not mirror the reality of Martial Law.

“Maraming infrastructures, may Cultural center, may San Juanico Bridge, but all these where committed by Marcos by loans for these projects. Grabe ang irregularities, grabe ang korupsyon, grabe ang komisyon,” he added.

An exhibit on Martial Law was opened to the public and will run until Sept. 23 at the TanYan Kee Lobby.

The forum titled “Honor Thy Father” and the exhibit was organized by the Simbahayan Community Development Office in commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.###
