Duterte admin gets high marks in SWS satisfaction rating

The Duterte administration bagged a “very good” net satisfaction rating from the public in its first three months in office according to a Social Weather Stations survey released last Nov. 17.

The administration, led by President Rodrigo Duterte, received a positive 66 rating, corresponding to a “very good” rating from Filipinos.

Out of 1,200 Filipinos, 75 percent were satisfied with the administration’s general performance, eight percent answered otherwise and 17 percent were undecided, according to the survey conducted on Sept. 24 to 27.

The respondents gave their highest approval to the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, with an “excellent” satisfaction rating of positive 78.

In the latest count on the brutal war against illegal drugs, 4,812 were killed, 33,830 were arrested by the police, and 764,742 surrendered.

The Duterte administration also received a “very good” satisfaction rating, corresponding to positive 63 rating, for “promoting human rights,” despite criticisms from the United Nations, European Union and other human rights advocates for the alleged extrajudicial killings in the country.

74 percent of the respondents said they were satisfied with the administration’s efforts in promoting human rights, while 11 percent were dissatisfied and 5 percent were undecided.

Respondents also gave the administration a “very good” ratings on other issues such as “eradicating graft and corruption,” “fighting crime,” “fighting terrorism,” “defending the country’s territorial rights,” “promoting the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs),” and “distributing lands to deserving tillers under land reform.”

The Duterte administration scored “good” in other issues, namely: “foreign relations,” “reconciliation with Muslim rebels,” “reconciliation with communist rebels,” “developing science and technology,” “providing jobs,” “ensuring an efficient transportation system,” “fighting inflation,’ and “ensuring that no family will ever be hungry.
