Hero’s burial for Marcos pushes today

The controversial hero’s burial of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos was set at noon today amidst mass protest and petitions.

Chief Supt. Oscar Abayalde of the National Capital Region Police Office confirmed that the burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani will be held today and in private as requested by the Marcos family.

Security was tightened around the area and barbed wire were allegedly installed in other entrances of the cemetery to prevent protesters from entering.

Abayalde told DZMM radio station that Marcos’s body will be picked up by a helicopter at 9a.m and will arrive around 11:30a.m.

Marcos family was said to release a statement after the burial.

The late dictator Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law on Sept. 21 1972 until 1981.

According to Amnesty International, 70,000 people were imprisoned, 34,000 were tortured and 3,240 were killed under Martial Law.###
