Fire hits residential building, reaches 5th alarm

Fire broke out at a 2-storey residential building in S.H. Loyola St., Sampaloc, Manila on Thursday afternoon.

Five houses and ten families were affected and the estimated damage was two million pesos, according to Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) on-site spot investigation report.

Chief Insp. Ramon Nazario, University Belt Police Community Precinct Commander, told The Pantograph that the fire started at around 1:14 p.m.

BFP said the fire originated at the 2nd floor of the building.

Rodrigo Go was identified as the owner of the burned structure.

Arson investigator SFO2 Edilberto Cruz said that, the fire reached fifth alarm at 1:48 p.m., causing nearby city fire trucks to respond.

The fire was declared under control at 2:43 p.m.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.

Jeffrey Sonsona, a resident living in front of the area where the fire broke out, said that only the caretaker, named Ramil, was occupying the residential building.

The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire.###
