NU unleashes dogs against UP

The National University Bulldogs held nothing back on Saturday in a fierce match against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons at the Mall of Asia Arena which resulted in a final score of 80 – 69.

Despite NU’s slow start, they recovered with shots from JJ Alejandro and Matt Salem.

Salem stepped up his game, giving the Bulldogs eight points and an 11-point advantage during the end of the first half.

UP’s Team Captain Jett Manuel dropped nine points at the beginning of the Third Quarter and sized the Bulldog’s lead down to six, 52 – 46.

Five minutes into the Fourth Quarter, Manuel’s lead was continued by his teammates Dave Moralde and Paul Desiderio who decreased NU’s advantage to two points.

The Bulldogs regained their lead at the last three minutes of the game after Fighting Maroon Andrew Harris was called for a personal and technical foul against NU’s Mohammad Salim.

Manuel cashed out two three-point shots but to no avail.

John Gallego of the Bulldogs closed the game with 80-69.

Salem was named as the best player with 26 points and six rebounds.

NU will battle for the second place against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on October 8, Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena.###
