Blue Eagles emerge victorious against Red Warriors

The Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles hammered the University of the East Red Warriors after a slow start, ending their two-game losing streak, 75-61, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Blue Eagles stumbled during the first quarter with the Red Warriors leading with seven points.

However, the Blue Eagles turned the tables around when rookie Jose Mendoza gained 10 points in the second quarter, giving Ateneo a 42-37 halftime lead.

Philip Manalag chipped in 16 points for the Red Warriors but was outpaced by Ravena and Mendoza who scored double-digits for the Blue Eagles.

The Eagles now rides solo in the third spot at 5-4, while the Warriors remained at the bottom at 2-7.

The Ateneo De Manila Blue Eagles will go against the National University Bulldogs on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. ###
